New Ad (A bit late)
Sometimes, it just doesn't pay to get out of bed in the morning. Just outside your window, the world is on the brink of a nervous breakdown. There are mutants running around out there, but anyone you meet could be one. Were your sisters' eyes always that strange shade of blue? Magic isn't just for scary hermits anymore, wall street CEOs are buying voodoo dolls by the truckload. The people breaking into cemeteries on Halloween aren't innocent teenagers as much as they're hoping to summon demons. Old evils are awakening, and we're not just talking about the Elton John summer tour. And Big Brother has been reading your livejournal. So where do you go from here?

After some major changes, X-Men: Resurrections has reopened with a brand new beginning, a return to the +traits system of old, and nearly every canon character available for application. We're not only beginning with Year One, we're restarting with Day One - many of the teams slated to form will all be gathering together for the first time once the doors open and the RP commences.

Across the country, a handful of young men and women have been given invitations to attend the Xavier Institute, a finishing school for mutants. In Snow Valley, Massachusetts, a group of young collegiates move into Omega House, unaware that all around them, the supernatural awaits. And in the City, a group of young mutants are all about to awaken without a memory of the last six months, drawn into a worldwide set of conspiracies and terrorist agencies. And that's just what /we've/ had in mind. Bring your ideas, and start up your own teams or organizations.

Resurrections is a Year One Marvel game that not only allows for a large number of Marvel (and X-Men obviously) characters, but it's focus on the occult and the supernatural allow for a number of characters that might not be possible on many other Year One games. We're encouraging new players to app in pairs or in groups, and to recruit fellow players to take on the roles they'd like to see apped.

Posting here because It's late and I can't be assed to use filters on my personal journal.

Finished almost all of the redesigned website except for the news section and a few odds and ends. Right now, it can be found at http://lyssa.org/xmr but hopefully soon we'll move it over to the domain. Huzzah.

The game is back up. I apologize for the delay, but it was being particularly snarky about the backup for some reason.

So get back over there and play!

It's been down, it's still down, and I hate having to mess around with the freaking server because I barely know what I'm doing, so it's probably going to /remain/ down.

I quit.

Not speaking in any official capasity here, but as people may have noticed, the game is down right now. Not sure why, except that it got a Signal Termination error (SIGTERM) a little after noon today. I emailed Sidereal about it. The actual machine the game is on is up and responding. The game itself probably just needs a quick reboot.

DNS Thing
Apparently, there's a problem somewhere along the line. If you can't connect to XMR, please try the IP address. :) 5500

We could use a community graphic. Hmm. Anyone want to whip up something dark and forboding? :)

Ginny can't sleep so you all must suffer.
So I'm trying to get a better idea on how the whole system works, heh. Whipped up a PL10 Mystique and figured I'd share it and its wrong-ness. Depending on if you wanted to go more along the lines of movieMystique, some stuff might need changing. Like, for Movie Mystique, substitute the Extra 'Exact' for 'Continuous' under Shapeshift, and add some piloting and stuff in there.

Please keep in mind that I'm super super tired right now and I don't even know if this makes any sense at all, I just wanted more practice and Sid went to sleep so I didn't have anyone to show it to.

Comments? Suggestions? 'The goggles, they do nothing!'s?

House Rule
For the first house rule for the game, how's this sound.

Instead of using a 1:1 ratio for skills, for every 1 power point spent, you get 2 skill levels. So it's effectively .5:1 PP per rank.

Anyone see a good reason why this isn't a good idea?

Any progress on getting XMR up and running on the new host? Also, do we have/know of someone who can code M&M chargen for us, or do we need to find someone?

I think I just recruited us a new player! Woohoo! Anyway, let me know (and when the game is up, I can start building Snow Valley, notes or no notes).

Stephen Strange
And here's Gen-X Strange, not to be confused with the actual Doctor Strange, who's gotta be up there in levels.

Jean Grey
Still trying to master the system, here's my first attempt at Jean. Out of 160 total points (PL 10 plus one Weakness).

Oh yeah. If you don't already have a copy of the Mutants & Mastermind's playtest rules, leave an email addy in the comment and I'll forward. There are changes with the final edition, I'm just not sure what they are offhand (though since I've got the book, I could probably find out).
5:53 pm
1. First two months of the new host have been paid. As soon as the account is unlocked, I'll be doing my best to move the decompile over there, and restart the game. The addy will be posted here at that time.

2. Anyone who's willing to help toss out ideas and stuff, feel free. There's the journal here, and there's a yahoogroup I can add you to if you want. I'm gonna start writing out the plots as much as I remember them, and get a record of them down someplace.

3. I guess I'm gonna start using my downtime and proposing stats for various characters. If we can't get a fully coded CG going, best guess would be to cobble it together. I could probably manage that myself, maybe. Instead of throwing players into a careless CG, figure out some way to have one-on-one time with them, working out their sheet and such.

4. On a personal level, I got the phone line fixed, so now all I really need to do is get a new video card. (Thought it was the monitor that was busted, turns out it's the v/c. So I'll be replacing that hopefully one day this weekend.) Then I'll have access again at the apartment, and since I now have no life, you'll be seeing a lot more of me around. Theoretically. Believe me, having no 'net of my own sucks, as I'm sure some of you know. ;)

5. Feel free to use this journal to post or ask questions or whatever. All this silence is disheartening.

Okay, the updated Resurrections website is up. Still fixing everything else so that it works with a frames page, but so far, so good, right?

Same website it's always been.

Okay, just a brief update.

Filled out the info for the site host today, gotta wait and hear back first before sending in payment and all that stuff. Hopefully, we'll have a new host by the end of the week.

Secondly, I'm hoping to end up with dial-up access tomorrow sometime. So I'll be back on a more regular basis once that happens.

Third, I wanna start throwing out some M&M conversion ideas, and basically getting the ground work in place so that we can start moving on outlining any deviations we need to make to CG. Anyone want to do research on the 'Net and see what's already out there? Ethan, are there any conversions or suggestions you'd make to tailor the system to a Marvel-based game? I know I'll have a bunch once I sit down with the book (which I ordered on Monday, btw).

We also need to figure out a default power level. CC's works for them, but for a game based in Marvel, I think we'll have to tweak. Magneto and Charles, for example (along with others) should be a lot higher than a PL 10, but I'm not sure where and how we should draw the line.

Once the game's up, I'll send off a post and start spreading the word so we can start congregating on Resurrections once again, and maybe get back into some RP in the meantime.

If you know of a coder, or someone who might be willing to work up the system for us, please let me know? I think that's way beyond most of our skills, unless someone's a coder and I wasn't aware. :)
